Radial Engine

 Radial engine is a type of reciprocating internal combustion engine, in which the cylinders are located outside the central crankcase like the spokes of a wheel. When we look at this type of engine from the front, it looks like a star. which is why this engine is also called a star engine. The design of radial engines is very simple. The pistons are arranged around the crankshaft in a circle. There are three and nine piston types of radial engines. Radial engines are like Each type of four-stroke engine has a piston (piston, valve and spark plug). The big difference is in (crankshaft). Radial engines are made with 3 to 13 cylinders, the number of cylinders is always odd. Radial engines are mainly used  in airplanes, and before the invention and common use of jet engines, radial engines were very common and were used in airplanes in such a way that most of the airplanes of World War II were equipped with very powerful radial engines. Therefore, the peak era of using these  engines was at the time of World War II. In radial engines, the valves were driven by a shaft The arm ring cam is closed, which rotates against the direction of the crankshaft, and usually in these engines, fewer cams are used than other internal combustion engines, for example, in a 5-cylinder radial engine, there are 4 cams for opening and closing. There are valves for every 5 cylinders, while this number is 10 in a normal 5-cylinder in-line engine with the same number of valves. In addition, radial engines used a cold air cooling system.
